October 19, 2020

It's Pumpkin Week in the third- and fourth-grade classroom at St. John's Lutheran School. Earlier this week, Mrs. Gilson's students had a chance to "gut" their pumpkins and carve faces.

Good Morning:
Please take a moment to read the letter below as it contains important
information on a Covid positive case here at St. Johns Lutheran
School .  Due to health guidelines, as well as the Covid-19
Prevention and Response Overview for Schools our 5th through 8th
grade must be quarantined for 14 days, this means students in grades
5th - 8th grade will not be able to return to school until November
2nd. Online instruction will begin on Tuesday, October 20th.  We
will still follow this weeks schedule with half days on

Given the uncertainty of COVID-19 in the coming months, we're beginning to plan alternative options for the 2021 Spring Auction for St. John's Lutheran School. As we plan, we ask that you take a few minutes to complete the following survey by Oct. 26.

The survey can be accessed by clicking HERE.

School will dismiss at 11:15 Wednesday and Thursday, October 21 & 22.

There is no bussing! Please make arrangements to pick up your child promptly when school dismisses.

There will be no school on Friday, October 23.

St. John’s Lutheran School “2020-21 Face to Face Learning Plan

October 5th 2020
St. John’s Lutheran School Parents:
As we wait for clarification on the new events with the Executive
Orders from Governor Whitmer and the Michigan Legislature, St.
John’s Lutheran School will continue to follow the Return to Learn
Face to Face Plan that has been approved by our Board of Education and
the State of Michigan. If you have any questions or concerns please
review the plans as posted

Two Executive Orders (EO 2020-183 and 2020-185) were released on
Friday that will impact our school

EO 2020-183 now allows for increased gathering numbers for both
indoor and outdoor events.

Effective October 9

Parishes and Schools may have organized indoor events of more than10 people.

If these events are in a fixed indoor seating venue (think gym or
auditorium) 20% of seating capacity is allowed up to 500 people.

Safety is a primary concern of the school staff, but it requires everyone's participation. Thanks for your support! School parking lots can be incredibly busy places in the morning when children arrive and in the afternoon during dismissal. Many parents drop off and pick up students by driving or carpooling, and these safety tips can help with safe arrival and dismissal. · Yield to pedestrians and buses, and be aware that children who are walking home may not look both ways before venturing in or across the parking lot.

WALK-A-THON FUNDRAISER!

St. John’s Lutheran School Parents:

Thank you for a great start to the 2020-2021 school year. The collective efforts of everyone working together to follow the requirements of our “Back to Learning Face to Face” plan have been positively received. All of us are so appreciative of everyone self-screening, wearing a mask, following our new schedules, and social distancing. These continued efforts will assist us in keeping everyone as safe as we possibly can.

Thank you! Mrs. Harvey

Congratulations, Trent Gauthier!
