The girls will have a time for worship, learn Bible truths, and develop friendships. The program will run September through May.

MAP Testing
Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) test is a computer-adaptive skills assessment that provides parents, teachers and administrators with metrics to measure a student's academic growth and progress. MAP Testing will take place throughout this week.

Lutheran Schools Week
Lutheran Schools Week is filled with special days and activities for our students and families. This week will include a science or social studies fair where our students make and display what they have been learning. Penny wars also happen during this week, where students bring in their change and paper money to try to have the highest total for their grade level. The funds from penny wars go to help fund our upper grades field trips.

St. John’s students will be watching the Grand Rapids Gold vs Maine Celtics game at the Van Andel Arena!
Lunches are $8 (cash or card) or bring your own sack lunch.

Spring Auction
St. John’s annual spring auction will help to raise funds for the school and PTL. This year’s theme for the auction is “A Day at the Derby”. The auction includes a nice dinner along with a wide variety of items to bid on. Tickets are sold through the school office and between Sunday Worship Servies.

On Thursday, December 19 school will dismiss at 11:00 AM for Christmas break. School resumes January 6, 2025.
Advent Service
The St. John’s students will host an Advent program where they will share the true meaning of Christmas with our students and families through stories and music. Dress rehearsal is at 10:00 am, during the day.
PTL Luncheon
Students will enjoy a special luncheon following the Advent dress rehearsal provided by PTL.

Toys for Tots Last Day

Foundry in a Box
St. John’s students will participate in Foundry in a Box. This program is possible through the American Foundry Society (AFS) West Michigan Chapter. Foundry in a Box is just what it sounds like. All the essential elements of a working foundry (metal, sand, melting pot, patterns, molds, safety and finishing equipment) are packed up into a box. This unique experience is designed to expose the next generation of workers to Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) and excite them about the many career opportunities in the Foundry Industry.
Jingle Bell Parade
Join the Holiday fun downtown Grand Haven in the Jingle Bell Parade. St. John’s School will have a float in the parade that you and your child can ride on or walk with! Meet us at Lot #52 at 5:30.
Cookie Walk
Get ready to have your tastebuds tickled with the scrumptious goodies baked by our students for the cookie walk! Cookies will be available for purchase starting at 9 am, they are sold by the pound. This event will end at 11 am unless cookies run out early. Proceeds from this event will help fund our fifth through eighth grade class trip.
BAKERS NEEDED:
The Cookie Walk is just a month away and we are in need of your most festive and delicious cookies. This fundraiser helps raise money for our 7th & 8th Graders end of the year class trip. Please consider donating some of your favorite baked goods to help create a successful Cookie Walk! Cookies should be delivered to St. John's on Friday, December 6th.

A Family Christmas
Families with children of all ages are invited to join us for Christmas activities from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Social Hall.
There will be ornament making, cookie decorating, crafts, refreshments and fun to be had by all! This event is at no cost to your family and open to the public.
Float Decorating
Jingle Bell Float Decorating 5:00 - 6:00. We will be decorating the float at James Vandenberg shop. The shop is located at 16630 Ferris St. Grand Haven. Come and join in on the fun!
Ladies Aid - Students Sing
St. John’s fifth through eighth grade students will be singing for the ladies aid luncheon.
American Red Cross Blood Drive

Giving Tuesday
On this Giving Tuesday, we are striving to raise $5000 for St. John’s Lutheran Church and School. The funds will be allocated to support our church and educational programs. We sincerely appreciate any assistance you can offer.
Thanksgiving Break - No School
No School, PreK to 8th grade, from Wednesday, November 27th to Friday, November 29th. On Wednesday, November 27th, aftercare and childcare services will be available based on demand. However, the building will be closed on Thursday, November 28th, and Friday, November 29th, with no aftercare or childcare options offered.
